■ Mitsuwa Motors (Mizwa Jidosha) is known for being the first to import Porsches to Japan. It also used to import and sell Packard, Lamborghini, Saab, and operated Audi dealerships.

Established in the 1950s as a car import and sales company called "Sanwa Jidosha," it expanded its business with the subsequent period of rapid economic growth. As a Porsche import agent, it had sales of 20.6 billion yen in 1994.

The initial company name, written in kanji, was read as "Sanwa," and it was often confused with the Sanwa Bank Group (at the time). In 1990, with the introduction of CI, the company changed its name to the current "Mitsuwa Motors" in katakana.

Under the import and sales system of Mitsuwa Motors in Japan, right-hand drive specifications were prepared for all series from the 1991 model, which was released in the fall of 1990. In addition, in 1995, the new car price of the 911, which had been over 10 million yen, was lowered to 9.1 million yen, and efforts were made to expand the Porsche user base in Japan.

On the other hand, Porsche Japan, a Japanese corporation established by Porsche AG in Germany, notified Mitsuwa Motors in 1995 that the import contract would be terminated at the end of 1997.

Mitsuwa Motors, dissatisfied with this, filed a lawsuit in a Stuttgart, Germany court seeking the invalidation of the contract termination notice and the continuation of import rights, but it was rejected, and it withdrew from Porsche import operations at the end of December 1997.

At this time, Mitsuwa Motors sold more than 2,000 Porsches annually, holding about 60% of the total, mainly focusing on customers in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and the number of Porsches subject to after-sales service exceeded 15,000.

The head office showroom and its own building in Ginza, which was called the "Porsche Building," was sold to the asset management company of "Osamu Satomi," the chairman of Sega Sammy Holdings, and has been renovated under the name "FSC Namiki Building" since 2024.
